Remembering great Dogra warrior and military strategist General Zorawar Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday paid floral tributes to him by garlanding his statue on his birth anniversary near Bahu Plaza here.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the LG laid a wreath at the statue of General Zorawar Singh and remembered him as a great national hero.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the function was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Ex-services league at Gen Zorawar Singh Chowk near Bahu Plaza.
Speaking on the occasion, LG Sinha said, “General Zorawar Singh was a great national hero and continue to remain the source of inspiration for the people across the country.”
“The unparalleled courage, valour and dedication of one of the greatest military commanders of the world will continue to inspire the generations,” he said.
The function was attended by J&K police chief R.R. Swain, general Officer Commanding 26 infantry division Major General Gautam Gaurav, retired Army officer Lt. General R K Sharma, president of the J&K Ex-services league and other renowned and prominent personalities of Jammu.
Born in the year 1784, General Zorawar Singh was the military chief of Dogra ruler Maharaja Gulab Singh. He conquered Ladakh and Baltistan whereas died during his quest to conquer western Tibet.
